Creating a Safe, Supportive, and Inclusive League for All

For more than six decades, Beckum-Stapleton Little League has stood as a cornerstone of opportunity and mentorship for Milwaukee’s youth. Our Code of Conduct reflects the shared responsibility of everyone involved — players, families, coaches, and community partners — to create an environment that builds confidence, respect, and belonging for every child, regardless of background or ability.

Section 1: Parent and Family Code of Conduct

Parents and guardians are the foundation of our league’s success. We ask that you uphold our values of integrity, empathy, and respect by:

• Modeling good sportsmanship and celebrating effort over outcome.

• Encouraging your child to play for enjoyment, learning, and teamwork.

• Refraining from unsportsmanlike behavior such as yelling at officials or coaches.

• Valuing personal growth, character, and community impact above winning.

• Respecting umpires, coaches, and staff — the stewards of fair play.

• Addressing concerns privately and constructively through proper communication channels.

• Supporting league diversity by ensuring your words and actions make every family feel welcome.

• Volunteering your time or skills to strengthen our shared mission.

Example: If you disagree with a call, take a deep breath and remember that respect teaches more than reaction. Your calm presence models leadership and emotional maturity for every child watching.

Disciplinary Measures: Violations may result in verbal or written warnings, suspensions, or removal from league activities, as determined by the Board of Directors.

Section 2: Coach and Volunteer Code of Conduct

Coaches and volunteers are mentors who shape both the game and the hearts of young players. Your leadership defines our culture. Please:

• Prioritize player safety, learning, and confidence above all else.

• Treat every athlete with dignity and equity, recognizing their individual potential.

• Lead by example — demonstrate fairness, humility, and professionalism.

• Create inclusive, structured practices that challenge players and celebrate progress.

• Communicate with families respectfully and transparently.

• Celebrate diversity and teamwork as strengths that elevate the league.

• Avoid negative language, favoritism, or conduct that diminishes others.

• Embody the spirit of stewardship — nurturing both skill and character.

Example: When a player struggles, highlight their effort. Teaching perseverance is how leaders build champions beyond the scoreboard.

Disciplinary Measures: Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or dismissal, at the discretion of the Board.

Section 3: Player Code of Conduct

Every player in Beckum-Stapleton represents a proud legacy of courage, discipline, and teamwork. To honor that legacy, each player agrees to:

• Respect teammates, opponents, umpires, and coaches at all times.

• Be on time, prepared, and ready to contribute to the team’s success.

• Show integrity — play fair, own mistakes, and grow from them.

• Support teammates and celebrate everyone’s effort, not just achievement.

• Compete with heart, humility, and resilience.

• Accept officials’ calls gracefully, trusting that fairness governs the game.

• Demonstrate gratitude toward volunteers and families who make the league possible.

Example: After a tough loss, offer your opponent a handshake and reflect on what you learned. Champions are built through character as much as talent.

Disciplinary Measures: Failure to follow these expectations may result in warnings, suspension, or removal from participation, as determined by the Board.

Open Communication and Reporting Concerns

Beckum-Stapleton encourages open, constructive communication.

1. Start with your coach or team manager for minor issues or clarifications.

2. Contact the Player Agent or League President if the matter remains unresolved or involves safety, conduct, or discrimination concerns.

3. All reports are handled confidentially, with respect for all parties.
